The kids played slip n' slide, ate cake and ran around screaming. It left me completely pooped. I had just enough energy to throw some straighten at the house, light a few candles, and snap some pictures as I walked around the yard.
My daughter and her friend, far from pooped, amped up on sugar and pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, jumped from the merry-go-round to the monkey bars. I rejoiced in nasturtium starts, and the fact that I planted some morning glory seeds that actually germinated.
This means that the giant Fir we had to chop down in our front yard, that is now the stump that we have to figure out in our front yard, may be covered with pretty vines and blossoms for the season! While not enough to actually give me energy, this did make me happy.

Tasty, too! Nastursiums make a lovely peppery addition to salads. Oh, what I would give for beautiful morning glorys cascading over a stump. Le sigh. I don't drop my kids off either - we all hang out together - unless it's with a grandparent!
